Paul Aranas Challenges Darlene Hooley to a Debate
Letter received by Darlene Hooley:
Dear Darlene Hooley:
I am the Pacific Green Party candidate for the 5th Congressional District in Oregon. I respectfully challenge you to a public debate about the issues that concern Oregonians.
Your support for wealth and privilege over the interests of the poor and marginalized is unjust. Your continued support for the immoral war in Iraq and your refusal to call for a ceasefire to the bombing of Lebanon is inexcusable and deplorable. Your decisions to play politics with the lives of poor people and to be party to illegal and criminal actions in the Middle East are shameful. I have formulated these opinions based on your record as a public servant.
Ideas and heroism have the power to change the world. Therefore, I am asking for a debate with you so that the public can hear our ideas side by side. This is an opportunity for you to explain your positions as well as to promote democracy. The public will have a chance to hear a much needed conversation on the issues of war, peace, and poverty in our community.
Due to scheduling, I look forward to your response as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Paul Aranas

Pacific Green Party Candidate Condemns Israeli Aggression
Paul Aranas, Pacific Green Party Candidate in Oregons 5th District, unequivocally condemns the inexcusable use of violence by the State of Israel against Palestine and Lebanon.
The Paul Aranas campaign stands in solidarity with the ten members of the United Nations Security Council who voted today to condemn Israel, the lone veto coming from the U.S. government.

Dear Friends,
Welcome! Progressives must unite against the two political parties that have monopolized Washington, and have initiated disastrous policies at home and abroad. The responsibility lies with both the Democrats and Republicans.
The Green Party has the potential to become a viable third party on the national level. The Green Party platform of sustainable development and justice is the only direction that America can take in order to address the great problems that face our nation today. These problems include lack of health care for millions of Americans, the tragedy of the unjust, illegal, and inglorious war in Iraq, the crisis in our public education system, and the disregard for global warming, the most important issue that faces our planet today. The two main parties in our country are controlled by big moneyed interests, and will not and cannot seriously address the crucial issues that face us as a society and as global community.
I am seeking this office because more and more Americans are exasperated with our elected officials in Washington who play politics with peoples lives, who do too little for the working poor, and have failed to justly represent their constituents interests. We need to aggressively address the root-causes of issues, such as immigration, which face our nation due to the policies of our government that economically strangle other nations. In the case of Mexico and Central America, our economic policies are directly linked to the flood of Latino immigrants who come to our nation in order to survive. We must repeal NAFTA and install a human economic system based on people and not profits.
I have consistently spoken truth to power and I have not and will not compromise my values of justice, peace, harmony with the environment, and solidarity with the workers of Oregon and the world.
Sincerely,
Paul Aranas
